Text-A-Tip

On July 22, officials from State Farm joined with the Tulsa Police Department and the Crime Commission to announce the addition of text messaging as a crime fighting tool.   With more than 300,000 text messages per minute sent daily nationwide and where most active users are teenagers and young adults, Tulsa County residents, and the surrounding counties are encouraged to use this new option to text crime tips.   Tipsters remain completely anonymous, and may earn a cash reward of up to $1000 from Crime Stoppers if their information leads to an arrest.   Tips are taken 24-hours a day.

Thank you to Jeff Davis and the team at State Farm for their support of this program!

Crime Commission hosts Friday Night Out!

Formerly called National Night Out, this year's event was held on Friday April 18 at Memorial Stadium from 6pm to 8pm.

The 25 th Annual crime prevention night was held on Friday April 18 at Memorial Stadium from 6pm to 8pm.   Tulsa Police, Fire and Sheriff Departments were on hand displaying their crime fighting units like the bomb squad, dive team, helicopter, mounted patrol, fire trucks, smoke house and much more.   Several local agencies were on hand to educate the public on services and programs available to them.   Hot dogs, ice cream, games, music and much more made this year's event fun for the whole family!

Last year's National Night Out event was held in conjunction with Neighborfest and was in August.   This year the Crime Commission is trying something new in hopes of reaching out to more citizens.    The purpose of Friday Night Out is to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for and participation in local crime fighting programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
